2009 Ford E-250 Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir on 2009 Ford E-250?
A: The coolant reservoir service requires engine cooling before opening the cooling system because the system contains pressure beneath which steam and hot liquid eject suddenly which risks serious injury to personnel. You should start by opening the cooling system pressure through mild counterclockwise rotation of the pressure relief cap by half a turn and then remove the cap. Clamp the lower hose of the degas bottle with hose clamp pliers before siphoning degas bottle coolant to a device equipped with suitable suction. Because gas engines possess only one coolant hose the upper coolant hoses located at the degas bottle should be disconnected. Position the degas bottle out by removing its bolts then disconnect the lower degas bottle hose and take away the degas bottle itself. The installation process requires the opposite steps of removal while securing bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Complete the filling process by putting the recommended coolant blend into the degas bottle up to the specific fill mark.
