How to remove and replace the front bumper cover on 2009 Ford Explorer?

The first step to replace or remove the front bumper cover for both Explorer SUVs requires the removal of headlamp assemblies. The first step requires removal of the fog lamp electric connections and side turn signal lamp electric connections when these features are present. Remove first the screws and pin-type retainers from the front fender inner splash shields then proceed to remove the shields. Remove the two bolts anchored at the bottom section of the bumper cover. Release the front bumper cover locking tabs using a flat-blade screwdriver because you will remove the fender clips when separating the front fender on Explorer and Explorer Sport Trac models. To remove the bumper cover people must first detach the fender-to-bumper cover clips before they must take off the Mountaineer bumper cover upper screws. Gently tilt the bottom portion of the front bumper cover towards the sky while applying downward force to the upper area until the three locking tabs are freed. The removal procedure is opposite of installation so start by reinstalling the front bumper cover after completing the steps.
