How to remove and replace the rear bumper cover on Ford Explorer?

First remove both tail lamp assemblies during the process of rear bumper cover replacement on the Explorer, Mountaineer, and Explorer Sport Trac models. Removal of the two rear bumper cover bracket bolts starts the process but apply torque to them at 11 Nm (8 lb-ft) during installation. The installation process begins by taking out the nine bumper cover pin-type retainers and the rear parking aid sensor electrical connector if installed. Exercise safe work practices on the bumper cover removal since twisting could cause damage while you should elevate the outer corners before pulling it up and out. Reinstall all needed components while performing the opposite steps needed during removal.
