How to remove and replace the rear bumper cover on Ford Explorer?

This is required to change the rear bumper cover on the Explorer, Mountaineer or Explorer Sport Trac, but to remove the tail lamp assemblies and two bracket bolts (tighten to 11 Nm). Next remove 9 pin-type retainers and disconnect the parking aid sensor. Fold the corners and straighten the cover out and then do the same to install.

In order to replace the front bumper cover, it is necessary to disconnect the connector of the side lamp, turn signal, and the fog lamp. Take off screws, and splash shields, followed by upper screws of bumper cover. Turn the bottom upwards and press the tabs. The steps must be reversed to be reinstalled.
