2009 Ford F-150 Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2009 Ford F-150?
A: The Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor service starts with parking the vehicle in NEUTRAL position then setting it on a hoist. Detach the accessory drive belt by rotating it clockwise while it leaves the A/C compressor pulley. Efficient loosening of the A/C compressor bolts enables you to slide the compressor down 25 mm (1 in) so that you can access the CKP sensor. The service of the CKP sensor involves disconnecting its electrical connector followed by removing the retaining bolt. Reinstall the bolt under a torque setting of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Clean engine oil should be applied to the O-ring seal after sensor removal then place it back into position while tightening A/C compressor bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Finish the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure using a scan tool under the directions provided by the tool screen.
