2009 Ford F-150 Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Water Pump on 2009 Ford F-150?
A: The first task to service the coolant pump involves draining the cooling system fluids. The next operation involves fan removal from the engine cooling system. Proceed by first loose the bolts that fasten the coolant pump pulley followed by removing the access drive belt. Application of the next step requires you to remove four bolts that keep the coolant pump pulley in place before extracting the pulley itself. Color it as a procedure to remove the four bolts from the coolant pump then discard the O-ring seal. The packing instructions provide instructions for metal surface preparation which must be followed to clean both sealing surfaces. Circular insertion of the new pump requires proper alignment of bolt holes with bosses before pump placement straight within the coolant pump cavity because any rotation will damage the fresh O-ring seal that must be lubricated with clean engine coolant. Screw the coolant pump in place with four bolts aimed at a torque of 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). You should fit the coolant pump pulley followed by attaching its four bolts and torquing them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The accessory drive belt together with the cooling fan need to be properly reinstalled. The cooling system needs its final filling before completion of work.
