2009 Ford Flex Battery Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the battery cables on 2009 Ford Flex?
A: A technician must begin battery cable service and repair work by removing the battery tray. After you remove the bolt position the body ground terminal of the battery cable to the side before tightening it to 12 Nm (106 lb-in) during reassembly. After removing the nut you must position the Battery Junction Box (BJB) cable terminal aside before tightening it to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). Position the battery cable starter solenoid terminal aside by first removing both the starter solenoid terminal cover and the starter solenoid terminal nut before reinstallation where the terminal requires a torque of 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Tighten the battery cable starter motor terminal to 12 Nm (106 lb-in) tension when you install it after positioning it aside. For the battery cable engine ground terminal installation place the bolt aside after releasing the engine while tightening it to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). The battery cable needs to be detached from its location at the intake manifold top while three battery cable locators require removal from around the LH valve cover. Remove the generator protective cover and nut from the generator B+ terminal then position them both aside before tightening the terminal to 17 Nm (150 lb-in) during reinstallation. To finish the operation remove the battery cables before reinstalling them by following the reverse disassembly steps.
