2009 Lincoln Navigator Windshield Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to reseal a windshield on 2009 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The windshield resealing process begins when you remove both the cowl panel grille along with the A-pillar trim panels from the vehicle. Take out all components including the overhead console as well as rain sensor and roof opening panel trim when those items exist. The next sequence requires removing interior rear view mirrors and sun visor components. The front section of the headliner right above the windshield receives partial lowering followed by placement on suitable supporting material. Use glass cleaner to clean the edges created by the existing urethane adhesive and the glass at both the top and sides inside the windshield and the bottom outside surface. Use the specified cutting on urethane adhesive applicators while operating a high-ratio electric or battery-powered caulk gun to generate continuous adhesive beads during installation. Apply the urethane adhesive until all gaps become one continuous bead subsequent to backfilling the application and wiping away unnecessary adhesive. A minimum curing period of one hour should pass before performing a water leak detection test of the adhesive bead so you can add additional adhesive when needed. Finally reinstall the headliner followed by sun visors, interior rear view mirror, roof opening panel trim and rain sensor, overhead console, A-pillar trim panels and cowl panel grille in this order. You must use glass cleaner to clean all surface areas of the windshield glass.
