All electrical connector probes on air bag, Safety Canopy(R), and side air curtain modules should be avoided due to the potential deployment hazard. Dismissing the steering wheel spring clips at each of the four locking pins before separation will avoid damaging the driver air bag module system. After deactivating the SRS system use a 4 mm Allen wrench which should be marked at 35 mm (1.37 in) and 45 mm (1.77 in) from its end tip. Use the tool to access the upper hole through the steering wheel rear cover until it hits an obstacle with the 45 mm mark positioned near the cover. If misaligned, reposition the tool. Correctly positioning the tool enables you to remove it just a little then gently push it to release the spring clip from the locking pin. Apply the same method on the corresponding corner of the driver air bag module while preserving light-handled force. You should check if the module remains stuck because the spring clip is still attached. Proceed with disconnecting the driver air bag module by first removing the clips from one side of the module and then the other side. Afterwards, free the electrical wiring from its clip before disconnecting all connectors. Connect both driver air bag module and horn electrical connectors after making sure to insert any loose wiring into the pocket of the steering wheel. Push each locking pin inward until it clicks to show that it fully ascends the openings in the steering wheel surface properly. The completion of the process occurs by powering up the SRS system.
