Safeguard yourself from serious injury by never inserting tools into the electrical connectors of the air bag and Safety Canopy® module with their side air curtain components because such probing could trigger an unintended air bag deployment. The supplier should refrain from painting both trim covers and deployment doors on air bag modules since paint might trigger improper deployment sequences. Before handing the vehicle to customers check that the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is operational and fault-free following the deactivation process. First position the steering column towards its lowest point then remove the instrument cluster finish panel followed by disconnecting the glove compartment assist cable. Pulling gently towards you on the sides of the glove compartment allows you to free its retaining stops which allows the lowering of the compartment. You must disconnect the passenger air bag module electrical connector through connector push-together followed by retainer down pivoting while extracting the connector. The installation of passenger air bag module requires removing two bolts after handling deployment doors only by their deployment door's edges to minimize possible damage. Push the module forward from the instrument panel so the retaining clips along with alignment pins at the corners become free. The installation process requires full proper seating of J-clips and retaining clips on the module back before placing it into the instrument panel with an exact panel fit. Tighten the two bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) value before reconnecting the electrical connector and repositioning the glove compartment stops and assist cable when installing the glove compartment. The process ends by adding back the instrument cluster finish panel and starting the SRS system.
