- Q: How to Remove and Replace the Front Door Latch Assembly on 2009 Lincoln Town Car?A: The procedure for removing and installing the front door latch begins with taking away the front door trim panel followed by moving the watershield to an appropriate position. The procedure starts with unfastening the door lock actuator rivet followed by disconnecting its electrical connector. Remove the three rivets followed by extracting the door latch remote control before disconnecting the interior door handle actuating rod and then disconnecting the exterior door handle actuating rod by opening its clip. The procedure requires separation of the door lock cylinder actuating rod from the door lock cylinder along with the removal of door ajar switch electrical connectors. Next reverse the procedure by uninstalling the three screws which hold the front door latch into position. Before front door latch installation connect the screws to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) torque before proceeding with the reverse order of removal steps. The Heavy Duty Riveter should be used to position a new rivet.
