How to remove and replace the rear Door Latch Assembly on Lincoln Town Car?

The replacement process of the rear door latch begins with removing the rear door trim panel followed by setting aside the watershield. The procedure begins with removal of the rear door lock actuator rivet along with the disconnection of its electrical connector. First detach the lock rod bell crank rivet if necessary before taking out the three rivets that secure the interior door handle remote control and finally disconnect the interior door handle remote control actuating rod. The process starts with opening the clip to disconnect both the exterior door handle actuating rod and the door ajar switch electrical connectors. To continue the procedure you must remove three screws which maintain the rear door latch. The installation of the new latch requires tightening it to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) torque values then you should proceed with the reversal steps. To complete the installation new rivets should be placed using the Heavy Duty Riveter.
