How to service and repair the rear parking brake cable on 2009 Lincoln Town Car?

Service and repair of the rear parking brake cable requires a first step of releasing the parking brake control through the parking brake release handle. Position the vehicle on a hoist while it is in neutral. Lower the parking brake adjuster clip before applying the parking brake control to its fullest extent. Lock the adjuster by pressing up on the parking brake adjuster clip while releasing the parking brake control. The service process begins with removing the front parking brake cable from the LH rear parking brake cable union at the cable union connection point. Additionally you must detach the LH rear parking brake conduit from the cable adjuster. To commence the sequence of steps remove the LH rear parking brake cable starting from its cable extension union while simultaneously removing both the LH rear parking brake cable and conduit. Use the retaining tabs to remove the RH rear parking brake cable and conduit from the frame bracket after which you should remove RH rear parking brake cable wire-form bracket bolts which need to be tightened to 17 Nm (150 lb-in). Once the axle housing clips lose their connection to RH rear parking brake cable and conduit users can disconnect the cable from the cable extension union and proceed to remove the cable and conduit. The installation process requires following the opposite steps of removal before modifying cable tension to your specifications.
