How to service and repair the rear parking brake cable on 2008 Lincoln Town Car?

The rear parking brake cable servicing requires using the parking brake release handle to leave the parking brake control free. Place the vehicle in the NEUTRAL gear before mounting it onto the hoist. Lower the adjusting clip of the parking brake followed by a hard push on the control lever. As the first step use the parking brake adjuster clip to lock the adjuster through upward force before letting go of the parking brake control. The first step removes the front parking brake cable from its connection at the LH rear parking brake cable union before disconnecting the LH rear parking brake conduit from its contact point with the cable adjuster. Proceed to disconnect the LH rear parking brake cable from its extension union before removing the cable along with its conduit. Release the retaining tabs to separate the RH rear parking brake cable and conduit from its frame bracket and remove the RH rear parking brake cable wire-form bracket bolts that need to be fastened to 17 Nm (13 lb-ft) torque when reinstalling. Remove the RH rear parking brake cable and conduit by disconnecting them first from axle housing clips then separating the cable from extension union of the cable extension before removing both units from the vehicle. The installation process will end with a reverse order of removal followed by cable tension adjustment.
