2009 Lincoln Town Car Power Steering Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the power steering pump on 2009 Lincoln Town Car?
A: A proper suction tool should be used initially to extract power steering fluid from the reservoir during power steering pump servicing. Proceed by taking off the power steering pump pulley from its position. Users should free the clamp and detach the supply hose but they must secure the pressure line bracket-to-engine nut to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque when reinstalling. The pressure line-to-pump fitting should be disconnected to remove the Teflon® seal before reinstallation where the fitting requires a torque of 73 Nm (54 lb-ft). Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) during installation while removing them initially. A proper installation of new Teflon® seals requires using the Teflon® Seal Installer Set for this application. Complete the power steering system filling procedure to finish the work.
