How to Service the Auxiliary Water Pump on 2009 Mercury Mariner?

A hoisted vehicle in NEUTRAL gear is the first requirement to service the auxiliary coolant flow pump. Safeguard the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear on a hoist and drain engine coolant before removing the LH lower engine splash shield. Disconnect the auxiliary coolant pump-to-thermostat hose by loosening its clamp first then proceed to disconnect the heater outlet hose by releasing its clamp. The first step is to disconnect the electrical connector of the auxiliary coolant flow pump followed by removing its securing bolts. After installation secure bolts with 4 Nm (35 lb-in) torque. You need to bring out both the auxiliary coolant flow pump and its rubber bracket assembly carefully. The coolant hoses require plain water lubricant while soap or detergent usage is prohibited for this process. End the installation by repeating the uninstallation procedures and filling your engine coolant system.
