How to Service the Side Marker Light on 2009 Mercury Sable?

Service of the side marker lamp requires the Sedan and Sable Sedan to be in neutral position and poised on a hoist first. Start by detaching the 2 pin-type retainers of the fender splash shield and then removing the 3 screws before setting the splash shield to the side. First disconnect the electrical connector from the side marker lamp before releasing the tabs to take out the lamp. The reverse order of disassembly will result in proper lamp installation. To reach the side marker lamp bulb drivers must access its location under the vehicle instead of handling or moving the fender splash shield or side lamp.
