Install the Holding Fixture to have the Dial Indicator Gauge installed. Install the crankshaft at the back of the cylinder block, set the gauge to zero at the back of the block and move it to the front and measure the end play, examine the engine system level to specification.

How to service and repair the crankshaft on Ford E-150?

For the servicing of the crankshaft, measure the main bearing journal diameter in two directions and ensure that there is no taper or out of roundness. Take out the bearing caps, apply Plastigage to test clearance, and by a Dial Indicator Gauge measure end play. Lastly, check runout through measurement of rotating the crankshaft.
