The service process of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor starts with disconnecting the battery ground cable then proceeding to remove the air cleaner assembly followed by opening the air cleaner clamp to separate the inlet side from the outlet side. Interfering with MAF sensing elements within the airflow meter may trigger a failure of the unit. The MAF sensor along with its body needs unit calibration so remove the assembly while disconnecting its electrical connector. The MAF sensor should be detached from the MAF sensor plate by removing all the nuts. The installation requires reversing the removal steps while verifying that the grommet near the engine air cleaner housing seats properly to block unmetered air from entering the engine. After correct positioning of the inlet and outlet sides you must use the alignment notch feature on the engine air cleaner then point the electrical connector towards the top of the unit when reconnecting it.
