Service and repair of the voltage regulator begins by first removing the generator followed by taking out the generator brush and terminal holder by unscrewing their attaching hardware. Drilling the screw cap and screws enables separation of the generator brush from the voltage regulator terminal holder. Start by positioning the brush and terminal holder on the voltage regulator before installing its screws as well as screw cap to ensure Test Terminal A has the screw cap properly sealed due to its role in preventing battery positive (B+) shorting. Depress the generator brushes before you place them with the terminal holder next to the voltage regulator. Then secure the position by inserting a wire for the brushes. Place the components on position while installing screws afterward removing the wire. Finally, reinstall the generator.
