Service of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor starts with
Battery Cable grounding. Start by opening the air cleaner assembly while you unfasten its clamp followed by splitting the inlet section from the outlet section. Operating on MAF sensing elements in the airflow meter will result in unit failure when performing maintenance. You should remove the MAF assembly while disconnecting its electrical connector because the MAF sensor needs calibration together with body service. The MAF sensor needs the removal of its nuts before you can disconnect it from the MAF sensor plate. The installation process should include reversing all removal steps with special attention to seating the grommet properly at the engine air cleaner housing to block unmetered air entry. Before reinstalling the engine air cleaner, verify correct position of its inlet and outlet sides by using the alignment notch; avoid trapping wires behind the MAF sensor and position the electrical connector up throughout the process.
