Service and repair work on the turn signal switch begins with cutting the power source of the battery ground cable. Start the process by unlocking the ignition switch lock cylinder through the RUN position of the key installed in the lock cylinder. A punch tool can push the tab release on the ignition switch lock cylinder when you pull out the lock cylinder mechanism. The tilt wheel handle and shank should be unscrewed if they exist. The service demands removal of both steering column shrouds which requires screw removal before removing each shroud. Users must first remove the multi-function switch through an unscrewing process followed by separator of electrical connectors before withdrawing the switch. The vehicle might show unusual driving behavior following battery reconnection because it needs to learn its adaptive strategy again thus requiring driving and reaching at least 16 km (10 mi) distance. Reinstallation should follow the exact opposite steps of the removal phase.
