Servicing the wiper motor linkage typically requires access to the windshield wiper pivot arms and the cowl top vent panels, which are removed to expose the mounting arm and pivot shaft; in some cases an access cover on the dash panel is also removed so the retaining clip can be taken out and the pivot assembly disconnected from the wiper motor, and the pivot shaft is usually unscrewed to free the linkage. Fasteners are reinstalled and tightened to about 9 Nm (80 lb-in) during assembly, and reassembly is typically carried out by reversing the removal steps, depending on vehicle configuration.
