  Q: How to service the brake light switch on Ford Edge?

  A: The first step before servicing the brake light switch is disconnecting its stoplamp switch electrical connector. To detach the stoplamp switch requires depressing the switch plunger because a 1-4 N (1-3 lb) force applied to the brake pedal will depress it effectively. Depress and release the brake pedal before pulling rearward to remove the switch by turning it clockwise 45 degrees. Keep the brake pedal assembly free from pressure contact because connecting or touching it could result in stoplamp switch damage. Place the stoplamp switch into position without shifting the brake pedal assembly by rotating it 45 degrees counterclockwise and finally reconnect the stoplamp switch electrical connector.
