Ford Edge Seat Cover Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair a 60 Percent Backrest Seat Cover on Ford Edge?
A: Service of the 60 percent rear seat backrest cover starts by removing both the 60 percent seat and cushion. Before installation inspect that safety belt webbing is untwisted and remove the bolt to separate components of safety belt retractor belt and buckle anchor from riser until reaching 65 Nm torque (48 lb-ft). Madlars should start by entering the hole and lifting the head restraint up before they push the release button on one side. Operating the safety belt comfort guide requires new guide installation as both master and slave head restraint guides need removal. The removal of the armrest bracket trim cover pin-type retainer and trim cover becomes easier by performing up-down cycles with the armrest. Under tightening conditions set at 25 Nm (18 1b-ft) you should disconnect the armrest bolt before tipping the outboard edge to release the armrest from backrest frame channels. Disengage the pin-type retainer in the armrest pocket that connects the backrest trim cover to the backrest and afterward unsnap the tabs to remove the child safety tether anchor bezels before repeating on the opposite side. The installation requires removal of the safety belt bezel screw cover, screw and bezel so maintain clip security. To access the heated seat electrical connector pull it through the opening by releasing the J-clip from the backrest trim cover if the system is equipped. To access the zipper at the rear inboard side of the backrest users should unzip it before removing the two pin-type retainers holding the backrest trim cover around the lower anchors and tethers for children (LATCH). Dismantle the pin-type retainer from the safety belt comfort guide pocket then draw the backrest trim over the armrest bracket and backrest frame latching wire. You should pull out the top screw while taking the bottom pin-type retainer off from the armrest filler panel before lifting it past the armrest pivot bracket and moving it toward the outside. Start by releasing the backrest trim cover J-clip from the armrest pocket of the backrest frame before inverting the cover over the frame to remove it together with the backrest foam pad. Approach the backrest trim cover hook-and-loop separation carefully since this process could damage the hook-and-loop from the foam pad. Reverse the backrest trim cover and pull out the wire from its clips by detaching the foam pad clips before removing the cover and routing the safety belt retractor belt and buckle. Reverse the installation procedure by testing the restraint system function in addition to checking that the safety belt retractor works without resistance and binds properly and maintaining LATCH accessibility for occupants.
