A: Removal of the front finish panel and the manual transmission shifter knob, which has to be turned counterclockwise, will be necessary to service the low series floor console. Use the parking brake and then take out the rear finish panel and the front bolts. Lastly, loosely attach the rear bolts to take out the console, and in reverse to put it back in place.

A: In order to deactivate the floor console, first of all, slide the seats forward, loosen the rear bolts, disconnect battery and park the car. Take off the transmission selector bezel and boot. In the case of the Mariner, remove the upper panel and in the case of the Escape, drop the storage bin. Unplug interchangeable connectors, loosen six bolts and reverse.
