How to service the differential cover on Ford Escape?

In order to service the differential cover, jack up the vehicle and empty the fluid. Wipe off all mating surfaces to avoid contamination. The cover can be installed within 15 minutes of applying silicone sealant, but one hour before lubricant can be applied. Lastly, add 1.4 liters of lubricant to the axle and screw the filler plug in.
