From the start of oil pan installation maintain the use of non-metallic scrapers and non-abrasive tools because they could produce scratches which generate leaks. A plastic scraper tool should be used instead. Apply the sealant to the oil pan only when it will seal within 4 minutes. Any delay requires removing the sealant then cleaning the surface with metal surface cleaner before full drying occurs. After applying a 0.09 inch (2.5 mm) silicone gasket and sealant bead to the oil pan malted surface install the oil pan before using finger pressure on the 2 rear oil pan bolts to secure it. Begin installation of the 4 oil pan-to-bell housing bolts while tightening them to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Then fasten the 4 lower engine front cover bolts but limit their torque to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). To complete the procedure install the rest of the oil pan bolts while following the specific torquing sequence of 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Reinsert the oil level indicator and its tube then add fresh clean engine oil.
