Ford Escort Camshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Camshaft Position Sensor on Ford Escort?
A: Regular service of the Camshaft Position Sensor requires disabling the battery ground cable as the first step. The service requires you to start by blowing off fuel system pressure followed by removal of the fuel injection supply manifold. The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor and its bolt should be taken out sequentially. The O-ring seal needs to be examined before installation for any signs of damage and it requires replacement with fresh material that gets lubricated by Super Premium XO-5W-30 Motor Oil or an equivalent WSS-M2C153-G spec Ford fluid. Install the CMP sensor and attach it with the provided bolt. End the procedure by reinstalling the fuel injection supply manifold followed by reconnecting the battery ground cable.
