Ford Escort Throttle Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Throttle Position Sensor on Ford Escort?
A: A beginning point for servicing the Throttle Position Sensor involves disconnection of the battery ground cable. The first step involves removing the air cleaner outlet tube alongside the disconnecting of fuel charging wiring that connects to the Throttle Position sensor (TP sensor). You should disconnect the throttle position sensor by undocking its screws. When installing the TP sensor use a quarter turn clockwise twist of the rotary tangs to direct them toward the throttle shaft blade before counterclockwise movement until reaching the correct installed position to stop excessive idle speeds. The TP sensor lacks any adjustable feature. The installation process ends by executing the reverse steps of the removal process.
