How to service and repair the drive belt on Ford Escort?

In order to service the drive belt, turn the tensioner clockwise in order to release tension and then raise the vehicle and remove the splash shield. Unscrew the belt out of the pulleys, screw the new belt onto the pulleys and screw the tensioner. Reinstall the splash shield.
