What precautions should be taken when servicing the starter motor on Ford Escort?

When working on the starter motor, make sure that you remove the battery ground cable first before touching the hot battery lead to prevent being burnt. Disconnect air cleaner outlet tube, top starter bolts and support vehicle. Un-hook the S-terminal wire and the B-terminal cable and loosen the lower starter bolt. Install by reversing the procedure.
