All procedures for battery cable repair for gasoline engines start with battery cable disconnection. The removal begins with unfastening the two nuts and the battery ground cable screw for detached cable access. Use your fingers to remove the pin-type retainer which secures the battery cable harness on the battery tray and then locate the screw mounted on top of the frame rail. Working by the main engine cover remove the bottom engine nut while above the oil pan rail you must remove a single nut to expose the transmission line bracket for removal from its stud. Disassemble the stud and remove the battery ground cable eyelet followed by disconnecting the starter motor by detaching the solenoid cable with the nut and then detaching the starter motor positive cable with its own nut. Finally, remove the cables. The installation requires running the procedure in reverse order.
