Ford Excursion Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake master cylinder on Ford Excursion?
A: The brake master cylinder repair process should start with removing it from the vehicle before continuation. Clean the exterior surfaces and drain the remaining brake fluid by taking out the filler cap. The procedure calls for disconnecting all brake pressure switch components when they are present. The principal piston assembly must be extracted by compressing the assembly while removing the snap ring before discarding both components. Plug the rear outlet port and optionally the brake pressure switch port of the secondary piston assembly before applying compressed air through the front outlet port for removal and discard. A damage check of the brake master cylinder bore must lead to brake master cylinder replacement. Clean the bore surface using isopropyl alcohol. Assemble the new piston assembly by applying High Performance DOT 3 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or equivalent fluid within Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A. The installation sequence starts with the secondary piston followed by primary piston while setting the snap ring by using the primary piston first. The vehicle must receive the brake pressure switch after replacement then the brake master cylinder needs to be installed.
