The first step to work on the headlamp dimmer switch requires removing the steering wheel for adequate visibility. The service procedure begins by untightening the two screws on the steering column opening cover before removing the three screws from the upper and lower shrouds. An employee must first disconnect the multifunction switch connector before unfastening the two screws which secure the switch system. You should tighten new multifunction switch screws to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) then follow the opposite order of removal steps to finish the installation. Steering column damage occurs when both ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch removal is performed together.
