In order to service the EGR valve, place the air cleaner outlet tube aside, disconnect the vacuum hose, EGR tube fitting, and unbolt the valve and discard the previous gasket. To install, do the reverse, clean off the sealing surfaces and apply a fresh gasket.

How to service and repair the EGR valve on Ford Explorer?

In order to service the EGR valve, unplug the vacuum connection and upper fitting of the EGR tube. Unscrew the 2 bolts holding the valve. To install, do the same steps in the reversed order and be careful that all the sealing surfaces are clean and a new EGR valve gasket is fitted, since the surfaces are soft metals.
