How to service and repair the tailgate latch on Ford Explorer Sport?

In order to service the tailgate latch, remove the screws and retainers, and the trim panel. Next remove the latch bolts and actuating rod guide, release the actuating rod and remove the latch. To install, do the same procedure in reverse but lubricate with Multi-Purpose Grease Spray F5AZ-19G209-AA or another type.
