  The servicing process for both upper arms should start before any work on the rear sway bar and link of an Explorer Sport Trac. To enhance movement of the wheel knuckle for sway bar installation, the LH shock absorber lower bolt needs to be removed. The electrical connector for the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister vent valve has to be disconnected, whereas the harness wiring needs to be released from the frame. You need to eliminate the fuel tank filler pipe bracket bolt before you can loosen the fuel tank filler pipe hose clamps to detach the hose. Move on to remove the sway bar link nut and its grommet and link before discarding the nut. Vent the sway bar bracket wire harness retainer caps from the bracket stud system and discard the sway bar bracket studs and four sway bar bracket nuts. The technician first needs to eliminate the two sway bar brackets together with their two bushings, then detach the four sway bar bracket studs by pushing the front elements downward toward the rear of the vehicle and pulling the rear elements toward the front. Unclip the fuel pressure sensor line from the fuel tank by disconnecting its quick connect coupling at the fuel filler pipe tube and safely position the line aside. You must exercise great care to prevent harm to the wiring harness together with the fuel lines and fuel filler tube and vehicle body when removing the sway bar, especially on vehicles that have rear air conditioning or heating systems installed. The sway bar must be removed from the LH side of the vehicle by working with an aide. Place the sway bar into the left-hand side and properly attach both the fuel filler pipe tube-to-fuel sensor line and quick connect coupling. Attach the four sway bar bracket studs first and proceed to put in the two sway bar bushings and two sway bar brackets before tightening each sway bar bracket nut to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). After attaching the wiring harness retaining caps to the sway bar studs, raise the suspension using a jack until the measurement reaches its original dimension. Fasten the sway bar link by using a new link nut and grommet before tightening it to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). Proceed to connect the fuel tank filler hose and tighten both of its clamps to 3 Nm (27 lb-inch torque specifications). After that, install the fuel tank filler pipe bracket bolt and complete the installation by tightening it to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft torque settings). Connect the wiring harness clip both to the frame and the EVAP canister vent electrical connector after installing the LH shock absorber lower bolt with a torque of 275 Nm (203 lb-ft) before reinstalling both upper arms.
