The first step to repair or service the backing plate requires removal of both brake shoes and linings from the rear area. The necessary first step is to extract both the
Axle Shaft along with the rear hub. Using a cable retainer compression tool you can separate the parking brake rear cable accompanied by conduit from the brake backing plate. Detaching the brake line fitting leads to removing the two rear wheel cylinder bolts which allows you to remove the rear wheel cylinder. You can detach the brake backing plate by taking out its four nuts and bolts that connect the backing plate to the axle flange. The installation process should be performed in reverse order of removal. Additionally, brake system bleeding must be performed at completion.
