Before working on the Hood Release Cable it is necessary to disconnect the battery ground cable. The service and repair of the
Hood Latch requires hood latch and pin-type retainer removal. Make room by setting the
Air Deflector to one side before taking out the guide for the hood cable along with all other guides. The service continues with powertrain control module (PCM) extraction after separating its attached nuts. Access the vehicle and lower the hood latch release/park brake bracket before detaching the hood cable from the handle by removing its cable conduit together with the cable itself. The hood cable together with the dash panel grommet must be pulled forward from inside the vehicle's front section. The breakdown process should be inverted to reinstall the component.
