How to remove and replace the RH camshaft on Ford F-350 Super Duty?

The first step to separate the RH camshaft involves moving the crankshaft damper spoke to 12 o'clock alignment and the timing mark indentation positioned at one o'clock. Remove the RH valve cover. Hand tools alone should be used to loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt while you back it off by one complete turn. The first task includes disconnecting the CMP sensor electrical connector followed by removing the CMP sensor bolt. The replacement process requires the No. 1 cylinder camshaft exhaust lobe to reach its exhaust stroke position by giving the crankshaft an additional full rotation to 12 o'clock. Reinstallation identification marks the components to prevent damage while removing the three cylinder head roller followers from the right side along with their respective valve keepers. The designated camshaft roller followers should be extracted using the Valve Spring Compressor. The crankshaft should rotate clockwise until both the crankshaft damper spoke reaches six o'clock and the timing mark indentation rests at seven o'clock. Secure the Timing Chain Locking Tool square between engine block and timing chain before starting the procedure and keep it positioned during entire installation. Raise the front thrust camshaft bearing cap upward after unbolt its two screws before removing ten more bolts in a specific order. The RH camshaft bearing caps require cleaning followed by an inspection of their oil metering groove that should be free from any contaminants. Extract the camshaft combined with balance shaft gear from the sprocket assembly and throw out the bolt as well as the washer for replacement. Use clean engine oil for lubricating both the camshaft and its journals before you install the camshaft onto the head while slowly tightening its new camshaft sprocket bolt. The timing chain installation should happen in its original position based on the scribed marks. Position the camshaft bearing caps on their intended spots before oiling them with engine oil for installation of twelve loose bolts. To secure the camshaft bearing cap bolts you must start by tightening them to 8 Nm (71lb-in) followed immediately by turning them an additional 45 degrees. After removing the Timing Chain Locking Tool use a crankshaft rotation of one half turn against the clockwise direction to correctly position the exhaust lobe of the Number 1 camshaft cylinder. The followers on the camshaft must receive fresh engine oil before installing all three followers previously removed. After connecting the CMP electrical connector you must reinstall the CMP sensor and its bolt before tightening the camshaft sprocket bolt first to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) then another 90 degrees. When complete install the RH valve cover.
