Ford Five Hundred Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the thermostat on Ford Five Hundred?
A: Start the thermostat service procedure by taking off the housing unit. Always keep the thermostat in proper alignment with the inner marks found within the upper Thermostat Housing before replacing it back to its original position. Prompt service and repair of the thermostat requires removing three bolts from the thermostat housing followed by separating the housing into upper and lower parts before discarding the O-ring seal. To install the thermostat correctly position the thermostat bridge on the marks of the upper housing to stop the spring retainer from obstructing the coolant entry tube. Insert a new O-ring seal into the upper housing after lubricating it with clean engine coolant. Norton the lower thermostat housing to its place using three bolts secured at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) and finally connect the thermostat housing assembly. The cooling system requires a final completion by filling it up and performing a bleeding procedure.
