It is essential to handle all passenger air bag modules with care by keeping the air bag while holding the trim cover or deployment door and tear seam section facing away from your body to stop accidental deployment injuries. The warning indicator of the air bag becomes visible after removing the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse and turning ON the ignition. A full inspection of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) operation must be performed without faults to return a vehicle to its customer. Start the passenger air bag module replacement process by eliminating the bolts which secure this module to both the crossbeam and instrument panel upper section of the vehicle while tightening the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque upon completion. Detach the passenger air bag module first by uninstalling six screws then the air duct and the six securing nuts before reinstallation requires tightness of 6 Nm (53 lb-in). You must finish the installation by executing the reverse steps of the removal process.
