    A: You must begin servicing the shift knob when it has a Transmission Control Switch (TCS) by first removing the shift knob trim ring followed by lifting the armrest so that you can remove the center console cup holder panel. You should first slide the lower bezel of the shift knob downwards then remove the two screws located on the knob itself. The procedure for shift knob removal in vehicles without TCS requires only the knob removal task. Those who require access to the TCS electrical connector need to free the four tabs then set the shift knob trim ring aside to proceed. The TCS wiring harness must go through the shift knob bezel during installation of vehicles with TCS features for proper connection of the TCS electrical connector which requires secure installation of all four connector tabs. You should begin by placing the shift knob and knob bezel properly before installing the screws. Afterward, guide the lower shift knob bezel into place by snapping it before fixing the upper console panel and the shift knob bezel trim ring.
