Ford Focus Vapor Canister Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Vapor Canister on Ford Focus?
A: Service and repair tasks on the evaporative emission control canister should begin by disconnecting the battery ground cable to prevent possible fuel vapor explosions or fires. The service requires positioning the vehicle in NEUTRAL on a hoist before disconnecting the EVAP vent solenoid electrical connector and EVAP tube. Try to detach the vapor tube retainer from the EVAP canister before you push the quick release tab to detach the vapor tube. The installation of the EVAP canister requires removing its securing nuts before removing the component completely. Installation of the new canister requires following the removal steps backward. Perform the evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle and do an evaporative emission system leak test after completion to verify proper operation.
