  Q: How to Service the Air Filter Element on Ford Freestar?

  A: Service the air cleaner element by first disconnection the crankcase vent tube from the air cleaner outlet pipe. After loosening the clamps disconnect the air cleaner outlet pipe at both the Throttle Body and the air cleaner cover before removing it. During reinstallation you should tighten the outlet pipe to 4 Nm (35 lb-in). Element 2 of the maintenance requires disconnecting the electrical connector which powers the MAF sensor. The air cleaner cover can be eliminated manually without requiring tools through removing two air cleaner housing clamps to separate the air cleaner cover from the air cleaner tray. To install the new element place the alignment notches of the air cleaner cover onto the air cleaner tray before refitting it exactly as you did during removal.
