Ford Freestar Door Lock Actuators Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the Door Lock Actuators for the power sliding door motor in the left-hand drive assembly on Ford Freestar?
    A:
A left-hand drive power sliding door motor replacement begins with opening both the sliding door and the rear quarter window. Sanitize SJB fuse 11 (5A) before you remove the rear quarter trim panel. vehicles with auxiliary A/C systems require displacement of the two upper air duct scrivets before you can remove the three bolts that secure the lower air duct and detach the cable along with its cable clip from the center hinge. The procedure continues with removal of the five drive assembly actuator pulley cable bolts and power sliding door center track moulding but operating the actuator must be avoided while cables are disconnected to protect from damage. Remove the power sliding door so it reaches approximately 100 millimeters from the B-pillar and separate the front cable clip before taking out the front cable. Toward the middle of the door opening disconnect the rear cable clip before removing the rear cable as well as passing both cables into the interior of the vehicle. You need to disconnect the power sliding door module electrical connectors before taking out the three bolts holding the power sliding door motor. Then remove the motor assembly from its mounting position. Select the power sliding door module to pivot upward while sliding it toward the left side to disconnect it from the drive assembly. Position the power sliding door module together with the motor assembly while securing the motor in place with three bolts tightened to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). Attach the electrical connectors of the power sliding door module by making sure the cables avoid direct contact with the sheet metal. The front cable together with the rear cable must pass through the provided opening before proper seating. To connect the rear cable open the power sliding door halfway and secure it with the clip afterward. Then move the door to 101.6 mm (4 in) from the B-pillar to install the front cable and its clip. Install the center track moulding of the power sliding door along with the five drive assembly actuator pulley cable bolts which should be tightened to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). Vehicles equipped with auxiliary A/C require installation of the lower air duct and three bolts first and then the installation of the two upper air duct scrivets. As the last step complete the procedure by replacing SJB fuse 11 (5A) and activate the power sliding door before installing the rear quarter trim panel.
  • Q: How to service the front Door Lock Actuators on Ford Freestar?
    A:
The service of the front door lock actuator begins with removing the front door trim panel. The next step requires removal of the three front door latch bolts but reinstallation must be completed with a torque of 9 Nm (80 lb-in). First disconnect both the exterior front door handle actuating rod and then disconnect the door lock cylinder actuating rod. Synchronize the front door latch with the door lock actuator before cutting off the electrical wiring from the door lock actuator. The installation process ends by putting the front door latch back into place after unlocking the door lock actuator.
