Apply a center punch for removing the rivet mandrels followed by 5.5 mm (0.22 inch) drill bit usage to eliminate them but stay under 6 mm (0.24 inch) drill capacity if needed. The new brake disc shield installation requires aluminum rivets because they stop the formation of galvanic corrosion. Position the shield properly and fasten in place the rivets before reattaching the brake disc.
