Ford Taurus Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair Coil Springs During Strut and Spring Assembly Removal and Installation on Ford Taurus?
A: Start servicing or repairing coil springs by taking out the strut along with spring while keeping the Ignition Switch set to position 1. No need to detach either the Wheel Hub bearing assembly together with the disc brake dust shield from the knuckle component. The wheel knuckle needs removal but power tools should be avoided for removing the nut because they might hurt the boot or Ball Joint. You should first loosen the nut followed by enabling the hex holding function to stop the stabilizer bar link ball joint from rotating when you remove the nut. The procedure calls for discarding the stabilizer bar link upper nut after disconnecting the stabilizer bar link by tightening the new nut to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.). Remove the brake hose bracket bolt after which you should detach the bracket from the strut before reinstallation where you must tighten new bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Begin by unclipping the ABS sensor wire retainer then place the sensor safely to the side whileDetach the washer hose retainer when required. Extract the upper strut mount nuts from the three locations before uninstalling the assembly of strut and spring but remember to tighten new strut mounting nuts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) when you reinstall everything. Both stabilizer bar link upper nuts and strut mounting nuts need replacement during reinstallation along with proper positioning of the spring across spring seats.
