Ford Thunderbird Brake Pedal Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake pedal assembly on Ford Thunderbird?
    A:
The brake pedal assembly servicing begins with steering column removal then moves to removing the speed control deactivator switch and stoplamp switch. Start by disconnecting both the booster rod redundant self-locking pin cover and self-locking pin before removing the booster rod together with its bushing from the brake pedal. Continue by removing the four brake booster nuts but re-tighten them to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling. Proceed to remove the brake pedal bracket bolts and afterward tighten them to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling. Following brake pedal assembly extraction from the vehicle you should reinstall it by following the reverse of your removal procedures.
