How to service and repair the evaporator core on Ford Thunderbird?

Testing for leakage should precede the removal process when investigating evaporator core problems. To begin start with removing both the evaporator core housing and the screws which hold the air inlet housing to the evaporator housing in place. You should detach the housing clip before you can pull apart the housings so you can take out the gasket. The procedure requires removal of the heater/evaporator core housing by pulling the nine screws followed by clip disengagement before evaporator core extraction. You should unplug the fittings before taking out the thermostatic expansion valve. Installation requires executing the opposite steps of removal while applying PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent WSH-M1C231-B compliant product on the evaporator's O-ring seal. Use the correct amount of oil to the new evaporator core either as F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or WSH-M1C231-B equivalent material.
