  A: The first step to work on a timing chain requires disconnecting the battery ground cable and removing the engine front cover. The next step requires removal of the engine front cover followed by Crankshaft rotation to achieve proper timing marks alignment. Next remove the camshaft sprocket bolt followed by removal of the timing chain along with both the camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket as one assembly. The service requires realignment of timing marks before you put the timing chain together with the camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket. To conclude mount the crankshaft sprocket bolt before you return the engine front cover and join the battery ground cable.
